Homemade pizza sauce

homemade pizza sauce

We love making homemade pizza. In fact, just about every Friday night, you'll find us slicing vegetables, making crust, and cooking up turkey sausage.

We've found our favorite easy pizza crust, the Great Value Thin & Crispy crust mix from Wal-Mart. I mix it with hot water and let it sit with a little oil on it while I cut up veggies. Then on a greased pizza pan, I spread it out, drizzle with olive oil, and top with parmesan cheese. I pre-bake the crust at 475° for about 8-10 minutes, then bring it out and put the toppings on.

This pizza sauce mix does not involve any cooking, only stirring. It's enough to split into quart sized freezer bags and freeze for future pizzas, so have the bags handy.

Ingredients for pizza sauce:

  • (2) 6oz cans of tomato paste

  • (1) 28-30oz can of tomato sauce

  • 2 tbsp dried oregano

  • 4 tbsp Italian seasoning

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tbsp garlic salt

  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper

  • 3 rounded tsp sugar

Mix tomato sauce and tomato paste together in medium sized bowl until smooth.

Add the rest of the ingredients and blend well. Adjust seasonings to your liking. Take note of how much you need for your pizza when you're making it, then measure the rest into batches and freeze so you can easily thaw what you need for your next pizza!
